These bimonthly forums are about promoting healthy and safe workplaces in the Hutt Valley by sharing training, resources and knowledge amongst employers. Vitamin D supplementation
itamin D is a proven defence against injuries from falls, as it promotes strong muscles and bones. The Vitamin D supplementation programme targets people who live long-term in residential care facilities, as well as older people who seldom leave their homes and don’t receive the recommended sun exposure. ACC promotes Vitamin D supplementation through GPs and health providers to help reduce injuries caused by falls. To find out more, see ACC’s brochure about the importance of Vitamin D.
We also initiate and run a range of targeted projects to address specific concerns within our communities. These include:
Safety Begins at Home
Most injuries happen in the home and are easy to prevent, so Safe Hutt Valley partners have teamed up to offer free home safety checks to residents in the communities of Timberlea, Wainuiomata, Naenae, Taita and Stokes Valley. A trained expert visits you in your own home, and offer practical suggestions and resources to make your home safer, and minimise those nasty slips, trips and falls. The home safety checks also include useful information on crime prevention, emergency preparedness and health. To find out more, and book in for one of our free home safety checks, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you live in Lower Hutt, or Jessica.email@example.com if you live in Upper Hutt.
